BALH Digital Skills Workshop: Archiving Your Local History Collection

Saturday 8 May 2021, online

“Archiving Your Local History Collection” is one of a series of digital skills workshops and webinars hosted by the British Association for Local History (BALH) in 2021. Most local history societies and groups own paper and digital records that document their activities, such as meeting minutes, event posters and flyers, and photographs.

This session will provide advice on archiving these collections, on the best way of preserving physical and digital records for the future, on cataloguing, and on archiving emails, websites and social media. You will also explore depositing local history society archives with county records offices and history centres. It is an introduction to archiving, and will be useful for anyone who is interested in or in the process of setting up their own local history or community archive.

The training session will be held by Dr Ellie Pridgeon, a consultant archivist having worked for numerous museums, universities and community archives across the UK. She also teaches medieval material culture Universities of Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge.

This webinar is free to BALH members and costs 8£ otherwise.
It will be hosted on Zoom.
