Memories of the pandemics: Britain on Lockdown online video archive

This is part of our series on Memories of the panemics – you can see the list of archives collecting memories of the lockdown here; if you want to contribute, please contact us at or post your memories on social media using the hashtags #memoiredeconfinement or #pandemicsmemoir

The BFI National Archive with Britain on Lockdown calls on the British public to recommend the online videos that best represent how Britain has experienced the impact of Coronavirus.

The BFI National Archive holds the UK’s collection of film, television and moving image. They are always adding to the collection, and are now on the hunt for the best and most representative examples of online video that capture the British national response to and experience of Coronavirus, to preserve for posterity. And they need your help to do it!

From YouTube to Facebook, Twitter to TikTok, professional or amateur, long or short, there is so much brilliant video out there. What’s really encapsulated these remarkable times for you? Whether the video entertained, informed, challenged, or simply made you laugh, they want to hear about it. The only criterion is that any video you suggest must be British – either set in the UK or made by people or organisations currently living in the UK.
